Recommended Supplements On Liquid Amino Diet
When on this program, and even after, Dr. Finsand recommends taking a few supplements to help improve and maintain your overall health. Here is a list of the supplements and some information on WHY he recommends them:
- Multivitamin – It is always recommended to get needed vitamins and minerals from the food you are eating, but while on the LAD, your diet is more restricted and while you are eating healthy and a very well balanced diet, supplementation will help ensure you are getting enough vitamins/minerals in your diet. Because this is helping your body get needed nutrients, taking a daily multivitamin can help curb hunger. If you take nothing else, this is the one supplement you should not cut out. You should choose one for your gender and age category for extra support.
- Vitamin b12 – The first thing we think of when we see this vitamin is energy. While this supplement can boost your energy levels, did you know that it can also fight depression, produce red blood cells and promote production of healthy DNA? It is a great supplement to not only improve your energy levels, but overall health.
- Omega Fish Oils – Fish oils can help lower levels of triglycerides, a type of fat in the blood. They may also help lower cholesterol, slowing the growth of plaque in arteries. This is a very heart healthy fat. Most fish oils will list EPA/DHA levels on the label. Dr. Finsand recommends that the average person takes a minimum of 3,000 mg, or 3 g, per day of EPA/DHA found in Omega3 fish oil pills. If you are diabetic, we recommend 5,000 mg, or 5 g, per day. While it is recommended, most labels on fish oil pills will show an amount of calories present. Make sure you include those calories in your daily tally.
- Vitamin D3 – A recent study from the University of Minnesota found that people have better success in losing weight when their vitamin D levels are increased. They found that when combined with a low calorie diet, vitamin D supplementation can help promote increased weight loss. Dr. Finsand recommends 5,000 IUs per day. Time in the sun can also help increase vitamin D levels in your system. So make spending time outside a priority and get that vitamin D in.
