N-Acetyl Cysteine

supplement N-Acetyl CysteineN-Acetyl Cysteine has until recently often been overlooked by the medical community. It is an amazing compound which is a derivative of the amino acid, cysteine. Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins and are necessary for proper bodily function.  It is produced by attaching an acetyl group to the nitrogen atom in the cysteine amino acid. It is abbreviated, NAC. NAC is an ingredient in our exclusive formula of the Dual Support supplement.

N-Acetyl Cysteine helps with inflammation and helps to replenish intracellular levels of the natural antioxidant glutathione, which helps cells’ ability to fight damage from oxidation. Glutathione is the “Master” antioxidant. It prevents damage caused by reactive oxygen species like free radicals and peroxides. It is naturally produced in the body except when the toxic load becomes too great. NAC can help your body to produce the glutathione needed to release those toxins naturally from the body.

N-Acetyl Cysteine is sometimes confused with Acetyl-L-Carnitine, an amino acid found in our Amino Diet drops  however they are not the same. NAC is primarily used as a mucolytic agent, which means it helps the body dissolve mucus, and in the treatment of paracetamol (acetaminophen) over dose. However, it has been shown to help with many other issues such as influenza, lowering lipoprotein cholesterol, emphysema and bronchitis. It can help people with insulin sensitivity and may even help to prevent certain types of cancer. However, we don’t recommend treating these conditions with NAC unless instructed to do so by your doctor.
