Liquid Amino Diet and Menstruation / Pregnancy

Amino diet and TOMOne topic that we are frequently asked about is what to do when your menstruation begins while on phase 1. It is often referred to on our website as TOM (time of month). When a woman starts her TOM while on the Liquid Amino Diet (LAD), it can cause a lot of frustration and worry. Water retention is a big factor during this time, and the scale can turn into an enemy as it gives unrealistic weight gains. Staying on protocol is a MUST. Because of cravings, it can be hard to do. However, as long as you stay strict during this time, and drink lots of fluids you will still lose weight even if the scale shows differently. Also, consume 2 tbsp of ACV (apple cider vinegar) daily to help flush out retained water. Once your TOM is over, everything tends to even out and losses are shown again.

Make sure to continue drinking ½ your body weight in ounces of water daily to help flush out the extra calories. If you are close to starting your cycle, you should wait until after to start the diet.

Because of different diet routine and rapid weight loss some women experience delayed or stopped cycles during the diet.  If it continues and/or you become concerned you should consult with your physician.

Pregnancy And The LAD

If you become pregnant while following the Liquid Amino Diet first of all, congratulations! The Liquid Amino Diet program is based on a low glycimic/low calorie diet which is not for pregnant women and you should stop the program immediately and consult your physician.
