Lose Weight by Eating More?
Of course, it is necessary to eat more of the right things. Replacing processed and fast foods with whole food options will cause weight loss, as will eating smaller and more frequent meals. Here are some examples:
Eat lots of whole foods: These will include lean meat, beans, fruits and vegetables. These low calorie foods are usually filling and can replace other, more fattening foods. Be certain to eat lean meats or beans while trying to lose weight and avoid all fast or processed foods. Take partially hydrogenated oils and trans-fats out of your diet and replace those with Omega3 fatty acids and polyunsaturated fats. Eat more frequently: Eating more frequently and in smaller amounts will help speed metabolism and promote a feeling of fullness, compared to eating three larger meals a day, which in turn promotes overeating due to hunger. Add as many low calorie foods to these small meals as much as possible. Make sure you always include protein in every meal or snack. Protein and healthy fat is essential for health and will keep you full throughout the day. Take time for a snack: It sounds like cheating but if that snack is a healthy protein or healthy fat combined with a fruit or vegetable, it will aid your metabolism and keep you feeling fuller longer. You might consider eating almonds with an apple, mozzarella cheese stick with an orange, hard boiled eggs with carrots and celery or a healthy protein shake.
Remember to eat breakfast: Those who skip breakfast tend to be the ones who put on and carry the most weight. We need breakfast for energy and for revving up our metabolism. If you do not have time for a sit-down breakfast, hard boil an egg the night before and eat it at work or grab a piece of fresh fruit on the way out the door.
