How To Create A New Weight “Set Point”

Tips to phase 2 on Amino DietOnce you’ve finished Phase 1 of the Liquid Amino Diet and start Phase 2, I recommend that you start a regular exercise program. Phase 2 is when you reset the hypothalamus and create a new weight “Set Point”. If you want to keep the weight off this is the most important phase! You must stay away from sugars and starches for three weeks and start exercising for best results. During the phase you will increase your calories and add dairy and other proteins in to your diet.  Here are a few tips to get you started on an exercise program:

  1. Find a Buddy, a class, or a group. Humans desire companionship. When someone is depending on you and striving for the same goals, it helps motivate you. Not only that, it just makes exercise more fun.
  2. Start Slowly. Most people try to do too much when they begin exercising. It’s OK to break up your exercise into segments throughout the day. Even small quantities of exercise add up to big benefits. Start with 10-15 minute chunks of activity, several times daily. Elaine Magee, MPH, RD
  3. Find something that you enjoy doing. Find an exercise that you look forward to doing everyday. If you get bored of the same thing then venture into something new.
  4. Have confidence! This is the start of a new life. Take charge and enjoy the new you.
