Exercise And Mental Clarity
Before and after 30 minutes of moderate-intensity cycling, male participants viewed a slideshow known to evoke anger mixed with images designed to induce fear, pleasantness or no emotions. After exercising, watching the pictures didn’t make the men more angry, while after rest, the pictures did so. An exercise class or weight lifting can take your mind off things. The distraction offered by exercise can have a calming effect, as well. Michael R. Bracko, EdD
I personally start my day at 5:30 AM, hit the gym at 6:00 and lift weights for an hour. I then put in 30 minutes of cardio and call it a day. On the days that I miss this routine my body and mind feel sluggish and less responsive. However, it wasn’t always that way. It took a while for my body to get use to waking up early and it took even longer to see the physical results that “made it worth it”.
It’s like any good habit… it takes time to build but will pay dividends the rest of your life!
I encourage everyone to start doing some type of daily exercise routine and stay consistent. If you need help getting started call our Health Coaches at 1-800-980-7208.
