While dieting, especially when you are on a plan that includes clean eating and produces rapid weight loss, toxins can be released and build up in the body. If you are experiencing and stall, or if the weight loss seems to have just slowed, you might try a Detox Bath before going to the VLCD correction day; remember the VLCD day can only be done after a 3 day stall and a detox bath can be done a bit sooner.
The instructions are as follows:
In the hottest water you can stand, you should add:
- 1 cup Epsom salt
- 1 cup sea salt
- ½ cup baking soda
Soak in the bath for 20 minutes and then rinse in a cool shower. (Not cold)
This can help your body release toxins in your body. It may or may not help with the weight loss. We have seen it work for some but not all. Remember that you are at a higher risk of dehydration on the day of the Detox Bath, so you should drink some extra water. Hydration is one of the keys to success on the diet so we don’t recommend that you do this more than once or twice per week.
