Liquid Amino Diet Protocol Summary

Dr. Finsand worked closely with internationally renowned doctors of homeopathic medicine to develop a diet plan that produces rapid weight loss results and introduces clean eating in a simple to follow way. This program will help you to lose weight rapidly and keep it off. To succeed, along with taking our Amino Diet Plus drops, you must follow all 3 phases of the program, which are explained briefly below.
The Liquid Amino Diet protocol suggests, but does not require, a preparation phase. Two days before beginning the program eat eggs, dairy, olive oil, avocados, nuts, and start supplementing with 3 grams of Omega 3 fish oil daily, which should contain 3,000 mg of EPA/DHA. During this time, make sure you get in a couple of your favorite foods as you may not see them again for a while. To help reduce symptoms of withdrawal, it is also a good idea to stop drinking soda and start drinking water.

Tips For Succeeding on Phase 3

As you go through the Amino Diet you will notice that there is less structure and you have more control over the foods you choose.  We are often asked what to do on phase 3 when you are no longer losing weight. How do you maintain the weight you have lost during phases 1 and 2?
Here are some helpful tips to keep you going:

Continue to eat five meals per day. This helps to keep your metabolism going while no longer taking the drops. Remember that low glycemic index foods are still your best options on a daily basis. There are many places on the internet where you can find lists of low glycemic foods. You should still try to limit your sugar and starch intake. This doesn’t mean that you can never have them, just that they should be eaten only on occasion.
Try to make your meals “balanced” with the 40-30-30 plan. (40% of the calories from healthy carbohydrates, 30% from lean proteins, and 30% from healthy fats) Each meal should have healthy carbohydrates, proteins, and healthy fats.…

What is the Cost of the Liquid Amino Diet?

iStock_000013528403XSmall

We often get asked if you can save money on this program versus eating “normally”. So, we looked into it and here is what we found.
The average person on the Liquid Amino Diet will spend anywhere from $112-$130 per week or $450-$520 per month depending on what foods they choose to eat and what part of the country they are from. This happens because if you are in the middle of the country, you would spend more on fresh seafood than a person on the east coast, while the person on the east coast might spend more on fresh fruits and vegetables. This also varies by the food choices you make. Foods produced locally are going to be cheaper than those that are shipped in, so try to stick to those when choosing your menu item.
Here are a couple of links to some other articles we have about eating on the diet and saving money. Remember that prices do depend on the area you live.…

Calculating Calorie Count for Phase 3

calculator

Phase 3 of the Amino Diet is considered the lifestyle phase, and should be viewed as a long term commitment to your health. We are often asked how many calories should be consumed during this time. There are no set guidelines for you as every “body” is different and everyone will burn calories differently. A good guide for you with regards to where you stand with your weight is by calculating your Body Mass Index (BMI). This is helpful to know if you are under or overweight. A good thing to do in phase 3, to understand how many calories you should be eating, is to calculate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). You can do this by following these equations:

Women: BMR = 655 + (4.35 x weight in pounds) + (4.7 x height in inches) – (4.7 x age in years)
Men: BMR = 66 + (6.23 x weight in pounds) + (12.7 x height in inches) – (6.8 x age in years)

SAMPLE: 42 year old woman, weighing 188 pounds and is 5’4″ (64 inches)

BMR = 655 + (4.35 x 188) + (4.7 x 64) – (4.7 x 42)
BMR = 655 + 817.8 + 300.8 – 197.4
BMR = 1576.2

Seem a little complex?…

Amino Diet VS McDonald’s

woman eating salad

I thought it would be interesting to take a typical meal on the diet and one from a typical fast food place. I chose McDonalds because it worldwide and most people have eaten there at least once. I also chose a diet meal consisting of chicken, broccoli and tomato because they are found pretty much everywhere as well.
On the diet we recommend eating protein, carbohydrates, and healthy fats with each meal. So I have chosen a meal of chicken breast for my protein, broccoli, tomato and lettuce for my vegetables, and olive oil for my healthy fat.…

Bison VS Beef

Bison Steak

Bison, more commonly known as buffalo, meets the American Heart Association dietary guidelines and is often prescribed to those needing to limit their fat intake. It is higher in protein and iron and lower in calories than beef. It also contains all of the omegas fatty acids, amino acids, folate, and B12. It has 70-90% less fat and around 50% less cholesterol than beef. It also contains less fat than even chicken.
Because bison do better when left to graze freely there is little chance of their meat being tainted by growth hormones or feed that isn’t healthy for the animals like you do with some beef. Their living conditions are also generally better than some of the beef being produced today.
The flavor is similar to beef but a little lighter and sweeter. Many times people don’t realize the sweetness in the flavor until they eat it for a while and then go back to beef. It doesn’t leave that greasy feel in your mouth when you eat it and isn’t gamey like the wild meats of elk and deer.…

Detox Ideas

Detox Ideas

As you are burning fat for fuel (like you do with the Liquid Amino Diet) toxins can build up in your system.  These toxins can lead to stalling and even small weight gains.  So in effort to help you maximize your weight loss, here are some tips on eliminating toxins from your body.

Use natural cleanses.  Things like apple cider vinegar (ACV) and lemon juice will help remove toxins from your system.  Use 2 tablespoons of ACV daily (diluted in 8-16 ounces of water or used as a dressing on your salad).  Chunks of lemon in your water can help as well.  Here are some other natural cleanse drinks you can try:

California Kicker – 8 oz hot water; ½ lemon juiced; a dash of cayenne pepper, stevia to take the edge off.
Detox Water – 3 quarts water; 2 lemons juiced; ½ cucumber sliced, 10-12 mint leaves.  Fuse overnight and enjoy the next day
Cinnamon Apple Detox Water –  2 liters water add two small apples cored and sliced and 2 cinnamon sticks. …

Eating Strategies for Keeping Weight Off

How to Eat and Keep Off Weight

Heart-healthy, reduced-calorie diets are essential for losing the weight and keeping it off. Researchers from the Preventing Overweight Using Novel Dietary Strategies (POUNDS LOST) found that people on diets that were lower in calories, saturated fat and cholesterol while being high in dietary fiber lost, on average, 13 pounds in six months and maintained a 9 pound loss for two years. In addition, they lost between 1 and 3 inches from their waist and did not report feelings of excess hunger.
Simply stated, eating foods that are good for the heart are also foods that are good for the waistline, helping people achieve and maintain a healthy weight. The foods that will most hurt cholesterol levels, raise blood pressure and increase the risk of heart disease and diabetes are the ones that will cause weight gain. By substituting out unhealthy trans-fats and saturated fats for Omega3 fatty acids and polyunsaturated fats, you have a key strategy for improving both the waist line and heart health.…

How Sleep Helps Weight Loss

Get 6-8 hours of sleep on Amino Diet

While on the Amino Diet, Dr. Finsand encourages you to start a habit of getting a good nights rest; 6-8 hours of sleep whenever possible.  To help you accomplish that, we have put together a list of tips on helping to make the most of your sleep:

Try to go to bed and wake at the same time every day.  Being consistent reinforces your body’s sleep-wake cycle and helps promote better sleep at night.
Increase light exposure during the day.  This helps to reinforce your sleep-wake cycle.  Take breaks outside and try to expose yourself to a lot of sun light each day.
When it is night, make sure it is dark.  Don’t fall asleep watching TV or reading on a back lit device such as an iPad.
Create an environment that is ideal for sleeping.  A cool/dark room, a comfortable bed, a good pillow.  All can add to the quality of night sleep you are getting.
Limit daytime naps.  If you do nap during the day, keep it short and refreshing (maybe 30 minutes) in the early afternoon.…

Supplement To Help Detox and Support During Weight Loss

Weight Loss Supplement

The Dual Support Supplement: A Crucial Step for Weight Loss and Overall Health
Empowering yourself to take control of your health is a first fundamental step.  The second step involves having the support you need to help you reach your goals.  For this reason, the Amino Diet is offering you a supplement that is vital to the success of your diet and the overall improvement of your physical health.
The Dual Support supplement is among the premium supplements being offered by the Amino Diet.  It works in two different ways:  First, it has been specifically formulated to eliminate toxins from the body.  Toxins can accumulate in our bodies due to poor diet, inactivity, medications and environmental factors.  Many especially pernicious toxins are found in the form of preservatives in certain foods or can enter into our diet via processed foods, canned foods and drinks or those items stored or microwaved in various types of plastic.
These are just a few of the toxins that we are exposed to daily, any of which can be seriously detrimental to our health and are still but a fraction of the toxins we may see in our daily lives. …
