Be Good To Yourself
Here is some food for thought –
“The root of all disease is a negative attitude about taking care of yourself. How do you define “taking care of yourself”? Create a new self-care practice today. Observe your comfort level when it comes to being good to yourself. Discomfort is a wise teacher.”
There are so many good things in that quote. Let’s break it down a bit. “The root of all disease is a negative attitude about taking care of yourself.” We live in a world of convenience and a lot of the time that means that we are fueling our bodies with processed, high sugar, high fat, high sodium foods that do little more then give us a quick fix. The old saying “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” isn’t a lie. Apples, and other good/clean foods, not only give your body much needed nutrients, but are nature’s natural warriors. They can also help to fight off diseases and an apple is just as quick and easy to grab as a bag of processed chips or a hamburger at your local fast food restaurant.
Big change is hard, but small change is easy. “Create a new self care practice today.” Make it a habit to take the stairs at work instead of the elevator. Park a few stalls further then you normally would at the store. Drink the recommended ½ of your body weight in ounces of water daily. Little changes here and there can lead to BIG changes in the end.
Working out is good for your heart, but working out too much can cause damage. Know your limits, but don’t be scared of a little discomfort. “Observe your comfort level when it comes to being good to yourself. Discomfort is a wise teacher.” A little discomfort means that you are making a change – your muscles are growing and changing. A lot of discomfort can mean that you over did it. Listen to your body.
These are wise words to live by. Take care of yourself and be healthy and happy.
