Amino Diet VS McDonald’s

Amino Diet VS Fast FoodI thought it would be interesting to take a typical meal on the diet and one from a typical fast food place. I chose McDonalds because it worldwide and most people have eaten there at least once. I also chose a diet meal consisting of chicken, broccoli and tomato because they are found pretty much everywhere as well.

On the diet we recommend eating protein, carbohydrates, and healthy fats with each meal. So I have chosen a meal of chicken breast for my protein, broccoli, tomato and lettuce for my vegetables, and olive oil for my healthy fat.

Fat (grams)

Protein (grams)

Carbohydrates (grams)

Sodium (mg)

Chicken 157 2.5 g 22.2 g 0 g 52 mg
Tomato 27 .3 g 2.6 g 5.8 g 7.5 mg
Broccoli 31 .3 g 2.6 g 6 g 30 mg
Lettuce 5 0 g .4 g .5 g 1.3 mg
Olive Oil 124 14 g 0 g 0 g 0 mg
Total 344 16.8 g 52.2 g 12.3 g 90.8 mg

Big Mac 550 29 g 25 g 46 g 970 g
Small Fries 230 11 g 3 g 29 g 160 mg
Small Coke 150 0 g 0 g 40 g 10 mg
Total 930 80 g 28 g 115 g 1,140 mg

So, looking at the chart, McDonalds has about three times more calories, about five times more fat grams, nine times more carbohydrates, twelve times more sodium, and almost 2 times less protein than the diet meal. The McDonalds meal is about half of your daily calories if you were on an 1800 calorie a day diet. Remember that is all in one meal.

We want you to be healthy. Eating the occasional fast food meal isn’t going to kill you or make you fat, but when you eat it on a consistent basis, it can. We encourage you to change your eating habits and live a longer, healthier life.
